Edward Anthony Conchiglio was born on the 19th of June, 1929, at the beginning of the Great Depression in Yonkers, New York. He was the epitome of the American Dream, a first-generation Italian-American whose life story was woven with resilience and determination.

Edward was the beloved husband of Betty Jean Conchiglio for an incredible 70 years, a partnership built on unwavering love and mutual respect. Together, they raised three daughters, Melinda Conchiglio, Sharon Conchiglio, and Brenda Conchiglio. In a touching tribute to their father and their heritage, all three daughters chose to retain their maiden name, a testament to the profound impact their father had on their lives.

The day he became a Papa to his grandsons—Theodore Edward Jacobson and Cameron Alexander Rivas—was a long time coming. With joy, he was very involved in their lives as they grew up, regularly flying across the country to San Francisco and Dallas to be with them for holidays, school functions, sporting events, and church activities. He was proud of their accomplishments and the men they grew to become.

From a young age, Edward demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit born out of necessity. Selling flowers to visitors from Manhattan, he showed an innate understanding of the marketplace and a relentless drive for success. This work ethic, diligence, and tenacity was a driving factor in his future successes.

He served in the army during the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ.

Throughout his life, Edward’s ventures were as diverse as they were successful. He co-founded Sunnybrook Realty, a commercial development company in New York, Yonkers General Tire, an auto repair and towing service, numerous gas stations, and a restaurant.

He was an active member of the Kiwanis and the Italian American Club that served the needs of the Westchester, NY community.

Eddie and Betty enjoyed extensive travel to Europe and Central America, experiencing art, history, culture, and gastronomic delights.

A devoted father, he was generous with his time at home with his daughters as well as his time and efforts at church and his daughters’ schools. Eddie always made himself available to contribute to the betterment of his daughters’ lives and the lives of other children.

He founded his last ventures upon retirement to Ocala, FL at the age of 48. Filling yet another need, he founded Edward’s Supply Inc. in Ocala, FL, which quickly grew past its origins of plumbing and electrical supplies to include irrigation, pumps, cabinetry, and lighting. Followed by the founding of Mill Direct Carpet, that specialized in carpet and flooring.

Edward’s life was a testament to the power of hard work, perseverance, and love. He leaves behind a
legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Edward Anthony Conchiglio, 94, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on May 14, 2024 in Ocala.
