Signs are up at a nearly 20-acre site in south Ocala where construction of a new Publix will soon begin.

The Publix Diamond “A” Shopping Center will be situated at the intersection of SW Highway 484 and SW 49th Court Road in Marion Oaks. The site is situated directly north of the Ocala South Logistics Park, just a couple miles from Interstate 75.

Publix is coming soon to a new space in Marion Oaks
The site is just under 20 acres in size

The site contains a total area of approximately 19.4 acres and is comprised of multiple parcels. The developer previously received approval from Marion County officials for various requests at the site earlier this year, including items pertaining to sidewalks.

In addition to the tracts for Publix and its parking lot, the development will also feature more than a half-dozen other tracts.

There are currently 10 Publix locations in the city of Ocala, including one location that is approximately five miles north of the new spot in the Cherrywood Market.

The new Publix shopping center in Marion Oaks will serve a growing community in that part of the city that has seen the addition of multiple commercial, residential, and roadwork projects in the area over the last several years, including ongoing construction at one of the city’s busiest interchanges in CR 484 and I-75.

Last year, Pepsi relocated into one of the distribution centers across from where the new Publix will be built. Dollar General also operates a large distribution center next to that facility.

Last summer, a cannabis company purchased a 250,000-square-foot logistics center near the two others for $37 million in order to cultivate and produce marijuana at the facility.

The area has also seen the additions of a new SuperWash, a Wawa, a renovated Popeyes, and multiple businesses that are in various stages of construction.
