A popular Michigan-based confectioner is expanding its presence into the Ocala market with the opening of a new store.
Kilwins is currently working on a new location within the Market Street at Heathbrook shopping plaza. The new business will be situated in suite 420, in between Barnes and Noble and Las Margaritas Mexican Restaurant.
Founded in 1947, Kilwins is widely celebrated as an Americana heritage brand that specializes in high-quality chocolates, original recipe ice cream, and various confections, including fudge. Since 1985, the company has been making its Kilwins Original Recipe Ice Cream.
Most products are made fresh on-site, including their popular chocolates, caramel apples, and brittle, often using heritage equipment.
The new Ocala location joins a family of over 160 franchised stores that operate across 28 states. Outside of Ocala, there are currently nearby Kilwins locations in Gainesville and The Villages.
Although the new store in Ocala has been under construction for several months, an opening date has not yet been announced.
The new Kilwins will join several other new businesses that have opened or are working on new locations within Market Street at Heath Brook.
Over the past year, Crumbl Cookies and Great Greek Mediterranean both opened new locations next door to each other. In between those restaurants is the city’s first Planet Smoothie, which is currently under construction.
