An Ocala man pushing his bicycle Saturday night along U.S. Hwy. 441 was struck and killed by a vehicle in Marion County.
The 59-year-old Robert Jay Weems had been pushing his bicycle in the southbound lane of U.S. Hwy. 441 at 10:50 p.m. when he was struck by a 2009 Mazda driven by 28-year-old Angel Rivas of Ocala, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Â
Weems was knocked to the median where he died.
Rivas told an FHP investigator he did not see Weems.
Rivas and a passenger, 45-year-old Justin Correa of Ocala, escaped injury in the accident.
