Belleview man calls police on himself after nasty spat with girlfriend

K.C. Starks

A 20-year-old Belleview man called police on himself after allegedly roughing up his girlfriend during an argument early Sunday morning.

According to the Belleview Police arrest report, K.C. Starks told the responding officer that he aggressively grabbed the victim and squeezed her face with his hand. He said she fell to the ground when he let go, and when she got up, he left the room and called 911.

Starks said the victim was mad because he was home later than he said he would be, and that she wouldn’t listen to him when he tried to tell her he wasn’t late. He said he was angry with her for not listening to him. Starks demonstrated on himself how he squeezed her face, according to the report.

The victim said she was arguing with Starks when he grabbed her and pushed her near the front door. She had a red mark on her right shoulder blade that she said she might have gotten when she fell into the door frame after being pushed. The victim then attempted to change her story, saying she didn’t want Starks to go to jail and that she pushed him first, according to the report.

Starks was arrested and charged with simple domestic battery. He was released on $500 bond from the Marion County Jail on Monday and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on April 15.
