Silver Springs man behind bars after nasty spat over his lack of employment

Scott David Pick

A Silver Springs man is in the Marion County Jail after getting in an argument over his lack of a job.

The alleged victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy he and Scott David Pick, 60, were having a conversation about work and past jobs on Sunday when Pick became violent and began to scream at him. The victim said Pick yelled, “do you want a piece of me,” and lunged at him, according to the report

The victim said Pick grabbed his shirt and struck him multiple times in the face before leaving the residence. The deputy observed the victim’s shirt was ripped and he had visible injuries to his nose and below his right eye, according to the report.

Pick, who lives on SE 185th Terrace, was sitting on a neighbor’s front porch when contacted by another deputy. The neighbor said Pick showed up at his residence and said he was in trouble, and “I’m gonna go away for a while,” according to the report.

Pick told the deputies he did not understand and would not understand his Miranda rights, and then said he was acting in self-defense and that the victim was “putting me down” by telling him he needed to get a job.

Pick was arrested and charged with domestic battery and is being held on $500 bond. His next appearance in Marion County Court is set for May 15.
