Three more Marion County residents test positive for Coronavirus

Three more Marion County residents have tested positive for the Coronavirus, bringing the total to eight as of Friday afternoon.

The latest patients, all women, are ages 28, 30 and 49. Two have a known travel history and the other hasn’t been determined.

All told, the Marion County patients – six women and two men – range in age from 28 to 68, with the average age being 53. Five of them live in Ocala and the other three live in Ocklawaha, Belleview and Dunnellon. Six of the patients have traveled recently to multiple destinations, including Ireland, the United Kingdom, Wisconsin, Texas, New York and other places in the Sunshine State.

While Marion County has shown an increase in patients since Thursday night, the number of those testing positive remains significantly less than in surrounding counties such as Alachua (54), Citrus (11), Sumter (29), Lake (24) and Volusia (38).

So far, 2,765 Florida residents have tested positive for the virus. Thirty-four have died, 456 are hospitalized, 407 have traveled and 482 have had contact with a confirmed case.
