Dunnellon man jailed after woman claims he imprisoned and beat her

Domingo Alexy Ferreira

A Dunnellon man is behind bars after a woman claimed he kept her padlocked inside a bedroom while she slept and forced her to urinate in a trash can while she was imprisoned.

The victim told Marion County sheriff’s deputies on Monday that 33-year-old Domingo Alexy Ferreira had become increasingly abusive – both physically and mentally – over the past few months. She said he referred to her as a “country whore” and would often poke her in the face and slap her, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim told deputies she had attempted to gather her belongings and leave, but Ferreira was continuously watching her. She said he confronted her about packing and slapped her in the left eye with an open hand when she told him she was leaving, the report says.

The victim said she told Ferreira she was going to contact law enforcement and he responded by yelling that he was going to “choke the word cop out of her mouth.” She said while being choked she was unable to breath but was finally able to escape and go to another residence several hours later after Ferreira fell asleep.

Deputies noted that the victim had purple and green bruising under her left eye stretching down to her cheek. She also had a dark red mark on the left side of her neck that was approximately one inch in length and her voice was very hoarse, which she said was because of being choked, the report says.

Deputies responded to Ferreira’s residence, where he was placed under arrest and refused to speak with them. While he was being searched, they found a small clear baggie containing a substance that field-tested positive for heroin. A computer check showed that Ferreira had been released from prison in May 2019 after serving 10 years for kidnapping, burglary, battery on a victim 65 years of age or older, trafficking in illicit narcotics and possession of cocaine, the report says.

Ferreira was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery by strangulation, kidnapping/false imprisonment of an adult and possession of heroin. He was being held on $2,000 bond on the drug charge and no bond on the other charges. His next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
