Ocala man arrested after breaking phone, grinding teeth on woman who was play fighting with another man

A 20-year-old Ocala man was arrested after allegedly grinding his teeth into the forehead of a victim who was play fighting with another male.

On June 28 the victim, who was found with bruises on both of her arms, claims that she was play fighting with another male when 20-year-old William Sims became upset. The victim claims Sims was sitting on a couch when he grabbed her by the arms and pulled her towards him before grinding his teeth into her forehead.

The victim said she got up and attempted to contact her mother before Sims took her phone and shattered it. The victim says she freed herself and that multiple people asked Sims to leave the location.

A Marion County Sheriff’s located Sims, who stated he had disputes with the family in the past and that the situation was “misconstrued” before things “spiraled out of control.” Sims claims he was trying to take the victim and leave causing the bruises to her arms. Sims admitted he broke the phone but claimed he did it because the victim was ignoring him. Sims claims the victim “put hands” on him first but did not specify, stating he didn’t want the victim to get in trouble, according to the sheriff’s report.

Sims was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail with a bond set at $10,000. He was charged with battery and damage to property. He was released on June 30 and a court date is set for August 5 at 8 a.m., jail records show.
