Volunteer to help clean the Ocala National Forest

The U.S. Forest Service of Florida is encouraging residents to volunteer in an Ocala National Forest Cleanup in recognition of National Public Lands Day.

The group made the announcement through its social media channels in an effort to recognize the day, which takes place on September 25.

“Help preserve your public lands by participating in a forest-wide cleanup and restoration project in celebration of National Public Lands Day on September 25, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” reads a post from the U.S. Forest Service of Florida Facebook page.

Participants will meet at the Lake George Ranger District, which is located at 17147 E State Road 40, in Silver Springs, on the morning of the event. Participants should wear closed-toed shoes and should bring sunscreen and water.

Ocala National Forest will provide personal protective equipment such as hardhats, gloves and safety googles, if needed.

To register for the event, contact Antionette Davis at 352-359-4082 or email antoinette.davis@usda.gov.
