Over $31,000 in cash, tangible donations to benefit Marion County schools

Recent cash and tangible donations to local public schools and departments will be presented to Marion County School Board members for acceptance and approval this week.

With approval from the school board members during their upcoming meeting on Tuesday, July 26, the various donations totaling $31,251 will benefit the following schools and departments:

  • “Stuff the Bus” student backpacks and school supplies ($1,032.25 value) to each of the following schools to be given to students who are homeless or in need:
    • Belleview-Santos Elementary School (9600 S U.S. Highway 441 in Belleview).
    • Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks (365 Marion Oaks drive in Ocala).
    • Romeo Elementary School (19550 SW 36th Street in Dunnellon).
    • Sparr Elementary School (2525 E Highway 329 in Anthony).
  • Student backpacks and school supplies ($1,029.50 value) to each of the following schools to be given to students who are homeless or in need:
    • College Park Elementary School (1330 SW 33rd Avenue in Ocala).
    • Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary School (1900 SW 5th Street in Ocala).
    • Dunnellon Elementary School (10235 SW 180th Avenue Road in Dunnellon).
    • Eighth Street Elementary School (513 SE 8th Street in Ocala).
    • Fort McCoy School (16160 NE Highway 315 in Fort McCoy).
    • Hammett L. Bowen, Jr. Elementary School (4397 SW 95th Street in Ocala).
    • Harbour View Elementary School (8445 SE 147th Place in Summerfield).
    • Hillcrest Public School (3143 SE 17th Street in Ocala).
    • Legacy Elementary School (8496 Juniper Road in Ocala).
    • Maplewood Elementary School (4751 SE 24th Street in Ocala).
    • Marion Oaks Elementary School (280 Marion Oaks Trail in Ocala).
    • Oakcrest Elementary School (1112 NE 28th Street in Ocala).
    • Reddick-Collier Elementary School (4595 W Highway 316 in Reddick).
    • Shady Hill Elementary School (5959 S Magnolia Avenue in Ocala).
    • South Ocala Elementary School (1430 SE 24th Road in Ocala).
    • Stanton-Weirsdale Elementary School (16705 SE 134th Terrace in Weirsdale).
  • An EZ 90 golf cart ($3,000 value) to Madison Street Academy of Visual and Performing Arts (401 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Ocala).
  • A billboard advertisement ($1,000 value) to Marion County Public Schools (1614 E Fort King Street in Ocala) to help promote this month’s Hometown Hiring Career Fair.
  • 21 student desks ($150/each for a total value of $3,150) to Marion County Public Schools Department of Operations and Emergency Management to be delivered to Dunnellon High School (10055 SW 180th Avenue Road in Dunnellon).
  • $1,000 to Vanguard High School (7 NW 28th Street in Ocala) to be used to purchase equipment, costumes, lights, show rights, and any other items related to theatre performances.
  • $2,500 to West Port High School (3733 SW 80th Avenue in Ocala) to be used at the principal’s discretion.

The Marion County School Board meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the School Board Meeting Room located at 512 SE 3rd Street in Ocala.
