Woman with new job at McDonald’s arrested after caught driving on revoked license

Lanesha Michelle Perry

A woman who said she landed a new job at McDonald’s was arrested after she was caught driving an unregistered vehicle with a revoked driver’s license.

Lanesha Michelle Perry, 29, of Wildwood, had been driving a white Hyundai four-door at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday in the area of State Road 44 and County Road 44A when she was stopped for having an unregistered license plate on her vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

When she was asked for her driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance, Perry told the deputy, “There is no registration, I am not going to lie to you.” She also admitted her driver’s license had been revoked due to a previous drug arrest.

Perry told the deputy she had purchased the vehicle a few years ago, but never was able to register it because she was not working. She said she recently started working at McDonald’s and was using the vehicle to drive to and from work, the report indicated. She also admitted there was no insurance on the vehicle.

She was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended and failure to register a motor vehicle. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
