Eustis man jailed for domestic kidnapping after woman briefly held inside camper

William Dwain Insco

A Eustis man who was staying a campground in Umatilla was arrested Monday morning after a woman reported being detained inside a camper against her will.

When Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the campground, located at 26301 SE Hwy. 42, a man told them that 41-year-old William Dwain Insco and a woman had been having an argument earlier. The man said that when the woman attempted to leave the camper, Insco closed the door on her and held it shut from the outside. The witness said he could hear the woman yelling, “Let me out,” from inside the camper, a sheriff’s office report states.

The woman told deputies that she had refused to give Insco his belongings from inside the camper where they both were living. She said he was never physical with her but he did hold the camper door shut and refuse to let her leave for about four minutes, the report says.

The woman also said that she was only allowed to leave the camper because Insco had left to call 911 because she wouldn’t give him his belongings, the report says.

Insco denied shutting the door or holding it on the woman while she was inside the camper. And he said the altercation between the two was just verbal, the report says.

Insco was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic kidnapping/false imprisonment. He was released Wednesday at 2:35 a.m. on $500 bond and is due to appear in court on July 2 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
