Homeless man accused of breaking ex-girlfriend’s mobile home window

Troy Michael Summerfield

A homeless man who spent time in the Marion County Jail last month for trespassing was charged with criminal mischief Monday night after he reportedly confronted his ex-girlfriend and broke a window in her home in Belleview.

The victim told a Belleview Police officer that Troy Michael Summerfield, 40, came to her residence in the Par 1 Mobile Home Park, 6220 SE Hames Road, and confronted her and a male friend. She said Summerfield made numerous threats towards her and her friend, and she told him to leave and that she was going to call 911, according to the arrest report.

The victim said Summerfield walked away from the front of the home and towards the back. She said she then heard a window on the back of her residence shatter, and she saw Summerfield walking away towards SE George Road, the report said.

The victim’s friend provided a similar statement, saying Summerfield confronted him and yelled at him for being with the victim. A neighbor told the officer he heard an argument and the victim called for him to come over. He said he heard Summerfield making violent threats against the victim and her friend, and he heard Summerfield’s voice on the back side of the residence before he heard glass break, according to the report.

The officer was searching for Summerfield when he received a call from the victim saying he was in the area. Another officer then apprehended Summerfield at the intersection of SE George Road and SE 110th Street, the report said.

Summerfield refused to cooperate with officers who questioned him and was arrested. He was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he remains held on $1,000 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on July 18.

Summerfield was previously arrested on May 11 and charged with trespassing after a warning. He was released May 24 with credit for time served. Summerfield had two jail stints in 2018, one in July for trespass after warning and drugs/narcotic offenses, and the other in October for disorderly intoxication.
