Vehicle-blocking Belleview woman jailed on false imprisonment charge

Erika Lane Siers

A Belleview woman found herself behind bars Thursday after she intentionally kept her boyfriend from leaving her residence.

A Belleview Police sergeant made contact with 30-year-old Erika Lane Siers, who was standing by her boyfriend’s pickup truck and keeping him from shutting his door. The boyfriend told the sergeant that he was trying to leave but Siers wouldn’t move so he could drive away.

The sergeant spent about 20 minutes trying to convince Siers to step away from the truck. He finally told her that if he had to call another officer to the residence, “she would most likely go to jail,” a Belleview Police report states.

The second officer arrived and told Siers that if she didn’t move away from the truck, she would be charged with false imprisonment. But she ignored the officer and told her boyfriend that she “just wanted to talk to him and then he could leave,” the report says.

The officer warned Siers again to move or she would be arrested, but she continued to ignore him. So he stepped closer and told her that she had one more chance to move or she would be arrested for false imprisonment. She replied that her children were coming the next day and she needed to speak with her boyfriend, the report says.

The officer then advised Siers that she was under arrest and attempted to place her in handcuffs. She quickly pulled her arms in front of her and asked to be let go. The officer then grabbed Siers by the wrists and told her put her hands behind her back, but she continued to resist by keeping her arms in front of her, the report says.

The officer eventually got Siers into the handcuffs and she asked him to get her purse from her vehicle, which he did. She was then transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with domestic false imprisonment. She’s due in court July 23 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
