‘Pleasant’ New Yorker jailed on DUI charge after squealing tires leaving police station

Luke Louis

A New York man who squealed his tires leaving the Ocala Police Department plaza soon found himself in hot water.

A police sergeant stopped 27-year-old Luke Louis, of Brockport, N.Y., and smelled the strong odor of alcohol coming from him. Another officer responded to the traffic stop and administered five field sobriety tests. Louis failed four of the them, with his only success being able to recite the alphabet, a police report says.

Louis was then transported to the Marion County Jail, where he provided breath samples of 0.142 and 0.134 blood alcohol content. The officer noted that despite the circumstances, Louis “was very pleasant and he displayed tremendous respect and accountability for his actions. He cooperated throughout this ordeal,” the report says.

Louis was charged with driving under the influence and released Sunday afternoon on $1,000 bond. His next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
