Two Ocala women were arrested after they were caught on video battering a man who refused to leave his residence during a heated argument.

Haley Oliver, 39, was charged with simple battery, while Luz Oliver, 38, was charged with dating violence after the altercation, which happened Sunday afternoon at the home where Luz Oliver lives with the victim, who she’s been in a relationship with for about a year.

Luz Oliver told an Ocala Police officer that she had been arguing with the victim and he was refusing to leave the residence. She said that during the argument, she pushed him and went to her bedroom. Luz said the victim came into the bedroom, placed his hand on her neck and told her she was not allowed to put her hands on him, according to the police report.

Luz r said the argument continued and the victim pushed her to the ground. The officer did not observe any injuries or marks on Luz’s neck, the report said.

The victim told the officer that Luz pushed him during the argument and he suspected the incident would escalate, so he began recording with his cell phone. He said he sat down on the couch and told Luz he was recording her. The victim said she came at him while he was on the couch and pushed him onto the floor, according to the report.

The victim said Haley Oliver then arrived after learning of the disturbance from Luz. He said he was sitting on the couch when Haley battered him with an umbrella. The victim showed the officer a video clip on his cell phone that showed Luz arguing with him in the living room, and then Haley coming at the victim with an umbrella and striking him with it multiple times, the report said.

Haley told the officer she traveled to the scene after learning of the fight from Luz. She said she believed the victim had put his hands on Luz. Haley said she wanted the victim to leave the home and when he refused, she hit him with the umbrella, according to the report.

The officer observed scratches on the victim’s right forearm and left bicep. They appeared fresh and consistent with being struck with an umbrella, the report said.

Haley Oliver and Luz Oliver were both taken to the Marion County Jail. Haley was released later Sunday on $1,000 bond, without a court date being set. Luz Oliver was released Monday on $250 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 10.
