Ocala Police officers were called to a shooting Sunday night that left a man in his forties wounded.
Officers responded to the incident in southwest Ocala at about 9:30 p.m. and when they arrived at the residence, located in the 2400 block of SW 1st Street, they found a man on the ground near a parked vehicle. The man, who was alert and treated on scene for non-life-threatening injuries, was the only victim in the shooting, a police report states.
Witnesses were being interviewed by the police department’s Criminal Investigations Unit and have reported that there were no known disturbances or other vehicles traveling in the area prior to hearing a series of gunshots in quick succession outside the residence.
Witnesses did not observe anyone else in the area of the residence or the wooded area to the north. Detectives are still investigating the shooting and the victim is expected to fully recover from his injuries.
