Ocala man accused of hitting woman with vehicle during spat

Christopher George Edelmann

An Ocala man was arrested after he allegedly struck a woman with her vehicle during an argument.

Christopher George Edelmann, 27, of NE 7th Street, was charged Sunday with aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon, two days after the incident occurred at a residence on NE 42nd Street.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy Edelmann was driving her to a friend’s house before heading to work on Friday morning. She said he had been driving recklessly and she didn’t want him driving her vehicle anymore. The victim said when they arrived at her friend’s house, Edelmann pulled into the driveway and she told him he was no longer driving her vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she got out of the vehicle and was standing outside on the passenger side with the door open. She said she told Edelmann to get into the passenger seat because she was driving to work. The victim said Edelmann said, “(expletive deleted) it,” put the car in reverse, and accelerated out of the driveway, striking the victim with the passenger door, according to the report.

The victim said the door struck her and knocked her down onto the concrete driveway and rolled her onto the grass. The deputy noted the victim’s shoulder had a large bruise and abrasions, and her knee had multiple abrasions covered by bandages. A woman who lives at the residence where the incident happened corroborated the victim’s story, the report said.

Contacted at his residence on Sunday, Edelmann said he and the victim were arguing and he blacked out. He said the victim was standing in the passenger doorway of the car when he put it in reverse and “bumped” her, knocking her to the ground, according to the report.

Edelmann was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on $2,000 bond. He’s due to appear in Marion County Court on Nov. 12.
