Silver Springs woman behind bars after spat with 82-year-old landlord

Kammra Lynn Witt

A Silver Springs woman is in the Marion County Jail after being accused of battering her 82-year-old landlord on Sunday.

Kammra Lynn Witt, 51, was charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older. Witt’s roommate told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she was in her room and could hear Witt and the victim in another room. The roommate heard Witt telling the victim not to go into another room, and then heard crashing, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The roommate said when she opened the door, Witt and the victim were on the floor. She said she could see a fresh laceration on the victim’s arm that hadn’t been there previously. The roommate said Witt got into a silver Toyota Solaro, told the victim to get into the vehicle with her, and they left the area, the report said.

Another deputy conducted a traffic stop on Witt’s vehicle in the 16600 block of East Fort King Street. The victim told the deputy that Witt was trying to force her to go to the bank to withdrawal money for her. She said when she tried to walk away, Witt threw her on the ground, scratching her right arm and left thumb. The victim said Witt told her to get in the car or else, according to the report.

At first, Witt said she didn’t want to speak to the deputy and just wanted to go to jail. When told she was being charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older, Witt said she just grabbed the victim to help getting the victim into the car and a bracelet must have scratched the victim’s arm, the report said.

Witt said the victim has spit on her and smacked her in the past, but she has never called law-enforcement. She admitted to being bipolar and having a history of drug use, according to the report.

Witt is being held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on May 12.
