Ocala man jailed after vicious attack leaves 82-year-old victim with fractured hip

Boris Shvets

An Ocala man was jailed recently after a nasty confrontation with an 82-year-old victim at a local hospital.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to an unnamed hospital on Feb. 10 after receiving reports of a battery. An investigation showed that 62-year-old Boris Shvets had been in an altercation with the elderly victim and it had become physical, a sheriff’s office report states.

Shvets was accused on pushing the woman to the ground and standing on top of her, which caused her hip to fracture. He was later located by Ocala Police officers and transported to the Marion County Jail, where a deputy spoke with him about the incident.

Shvets was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated battery (causing bodily harm or disability); battery (second or subsequent offense); battery on a person 65 years of age or older and battery on an officer, firefighter, EMT, etc. He was being held on $35,000 bond and is due in court March 16 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges, jail records show.
