An Ocala teenager was arrested recently after admitting to smacking her man friend on the face during an argument.
Mariel Janice Colon Rivera, 18, told sheriff’s deputies that she was involved in a physical altercation with the victim and struck him in the left side of his face with an open hand after he “disrespected her” and called her a “bitch.” Deputies noted redness on the victim’s left check area, a sheriff’s office report states.
The owner of the home where the altercation took place told deputies that he captured the incident on his Ring Doorbell camera. Deputies then viewed the footage of the altercation, which “clearly showed” Colon Rivera striking the victim in the face with her right hand, the report says.
Colon Rivera was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with domestic battery. She was released on her own recognizance and is due in court June 15 at 9:30 a.m. to answer to the charge, jail records show.
