Local firefighters battled a half-acre wildfire on Saturday afternoon in northeast Ocala.
According to a social media post from Ocala Fire Rescue, units consisting of Engine 5 and Engine 2 were dispatched to the 3100 block of NE 42nd Road at approximately 2:34 p.m. due to reports of a wildfire.
When the units arrived on scene, they observed half an acre of land that was covered in flames. The fire was spreading toward the north and south. Marion County Fire Rescue’s brush truck was requested to provide assistance due to the location of the fire.
Crew members from Engine 5 approached the fire through a back yard and began attacking the flames with water from their tank while Engine 2’s crew members secured the water supply from a hydrant.
Water from MCFR’s brush truck was utilized to extinguish hot spots. The firefighters used approximately 1,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported.
