A broken air conditioning unit has forced the Discovery Center in Ocala to shut its doors until further notice.
On Wednesday, the Discovery Center stated in a social media post that its air conditioner “took a vacation…probably up north to get away from this Florida heat.”
According to the science center, team members are working hard to get the cool air up and running inside the building. There is currently no timetable for when the facility will reopen.
The Discovery Center, which is located at 701 NE Sanchez Avenue, is Ocala’s local science center for children. While checking out the rotating science-themed exhibits or taking part in a class focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), kids get to learn in a fun and interactive way.
The hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The science center is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
