PHOTOS: Festival at Fort King re-enactment through lens of local photographer

The annual Festival at Fort King returned earlier this month, giving visitors a glimpse into life at the fort during the early 1800s.

On Saturday, December 2, and Sunday, December 3, the two-day festival at the Fort King National Historic Landmark (3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala) featured historic-themed crafts, games, activities, living historians, a variety of food and craft vendors, and the pinnacle of the weekend: a re-enactment of the event that fueled the start of the Second Seminole War.

Ocala-based professional photographer John D. Elliott was in attendance on the festival’s opening day, and his camera captured the re-enactment at Fort King.
