City receives $100K grant to improve road safety

Congresswoman Kat Cammack announced this week that the City of Ocala has received a $104,000 grant to help improve safety on local roadways.

The city received this funding from the Safe Streets and Roads for All program, which funds regional, local, and tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries.

In a press release on Tuesday, Congresswoman Cammack stated that the City of Ocala will use the $104,000 in grant funds to develop citywide plans for local road safety and speed management. These plans will target safer speeds in residential areas and around schools.

“I’m excited to see the City of Ocala making excellent use of this grant,” stated Cammack.

“Safer roadways are important for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists in Ocala, ensuring everyone makes it to their destination and back home safely,” added Cammack. “I look forward to seeing the City’s thoughtful planning in action.”
