The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting at a shopping plaza in Marion Oaks that left one person dead on Friday afternoon.
In a social media post, the sheriff’s office stated that deputies responded to the BP gas station and shopping plaza located at the corner of Marion Oaks Boulevard and Marion Oaks Drive in Ocala in reference to shots being fired.
Upon arrival at the shopping plaza, deputies located a female victim who was deceased. Her name and age were not released by the sheriff’s office.
Witnesses told deputies that a male shooter had fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. According to MCSO, investigators believe that this shooting incident is “isolated.”
