A 70-year-old woman was killed, and a 25-year-old man was critically injured, after their cars collided on County Road 314 in Fort McCoy on Friday morning.

At around 9:45 a.m., the woman from Salt Springs was traveling eastbound on County Road 314, and the man from St. Augustine was heading westbound on the same roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

The woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The man was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital in critical condition. No further updates were provided on his condition.

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles. Their names were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
