Ocala police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on NW 1st Street on Saturday night.
At around 9:40 p.m., Ocala Police Department officers responded to the 1700 block of NW 1st Street in reference to shots being fired in the area. When the officers arrived on scene, they found a man who had sustained a gunshot wound, according to OPD.
The victim was trauma alerted to a local hospital in critical condition. On Sunday, OPD stated in a social media post that the victim sadly passed away from his injuries at the hospital.
