Self-proclaimed Nazi arrested after allegedly striking victim in head with wrench

A man who made national headlines for denouncing his Nazi tattoos during a Black Lives Matter march in Ocala in 2020, was arrested after allegedly striking a victim in the head with a wrench.

A deputy from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a local residence on Monday evening in reference to an aggravated battery.

According to the report, the deputy made contact with a victim who says he was struck on the left side of his head by 26-year-old Dylan Gentry.

The victim says he and Gentry were involved in a verbal altercation and that during the argument, Gentry retrieved a breaker bar wrench from his vehicle and struck the victim on the left side of his head in the front yard.

A witness on the scene advised that the blow not only knocked the victim to the ground, but also knocked the victim unconscious momentarily.

The deputy says the victim’s left ear was torn open and that he was bleeding down the left side of his shirt, according to the report. The victim and witness told the deputy that Gentry fled the scene.

Gentry was eventually located at the RaceTrac gasoline station at 2010 SW College Road. When the deputy tried to detain Gentry, the deputy says Gentry resisted and struggled in an attempt to break free.

After he was secured in the back of the patrol vehicle, Gentry unsuccessfully attempted to place his hands in front of his body, according to the report.

Gentry was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail. His bond was set at $22,000. He is being charged with aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon and resisting arrest with violence. His next court date is scheduled for Tuesday, October 12, according to jail records.

Gentry made national headlines in June 2020 when he renounced his tattoos and Nazi beliefs during a black lives matter rally in Ocala. Shortly after his renunciation, Gentry went back on his statements on social media.
