A Marion County sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 white Toyota for unlawful speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign, according to an arrest affidavit. The vehicle was observed traveling north on 52nd Avenue, at a high rate of speed and then continued traveling east on SE 28th St., failing to stop at a stop sign, the affidavit stated. During the traffic stop, 24-year-old driver Paul Anthony Oquendo stepped out of his vehicle and spontaneously stated that his driver’s license was not valid. The deputy discovered Oquendo had 10 suspensions from 2011 to 2017. It was further revealed that Oquendo had two previous convictions on March 29, 2013 and August 11, 2016 in Marion County.

Oquendo was placed under arrest and was transported to the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $2,000.
