Ocala restaurant Dina’s Place shut down after rodent droppings found in multiple places

Dina’s Place

Dina’s Place in Ocala was shut down last week after failing a health inspection.
The restaurant, located at 7440 SE Maricamp Rd No. 1, was shut down this past Friday after 12 violations were recorded. The business reopened the following day.
According to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, more than 75 rodent droppings were found on the floor, in the wash area and under a clean dish rack and slicer. Another 20 droppings were found under a prep table in the front kitchen, with more located in multiple places, including on the floor of a storage room, on a shelf containing a hot water heater, on a floor under a mop sink and in a pan on a slicer rack containing clean dishes.
The report also states that rodent burrow or nesting materials were found, with shredded insulation behind a kitchen prep table and a clean dish rack. Another high-priority violation also cited a toxic substance/chemical stored by or with food.
Intermediate violations included a repeat offense involving a potential time/temperature control issue for food that was opened, held for more than 24 hours and not properly date marked.
Another intermediate violation centered around renovations that were in progress or completed with no plan review submitted or approved. The report states that renovation plans must be submitted to the Plan Review office in Tallahassee for approval within 30 days.
Other violations included a buildup of grease/dust/debris on hood filters above cooking equipment, a dead rodent on the floor in a wash area, high grass/weeds surrounding the building, several holes in walls, a food label prepared and packaged onsite for customer self-service that didn’t include product identity/description, and a door on a reach-in cooler falling off.
