Minimart sleepover lands trespassing homeless man behind bars

Scott M. Boynton

A homeless man was arrested Thursday morning after he stopped at a Summerfield minimart for a drink – and stayed all night.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to the Circle K, at 14870 S U.S. Hwy. 441, and spoke to a clerk who said that 36-year-old Scott M. Boynton had been in the store all night and had a previous trespass order against him. The clerk said she wanted to pursue charges against Boynton and have him removed from the minimart.

Boynton told the deputy, who had issued the previous order against him on Sept. 22, that he needed a drink the night before so he went to the store to get one “and just stayed there for the night,” the report says.

Boynton taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with trespassing after being warned. He was being held on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Marion County courtroom on Nov. 20 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charge.
