Ocala woman killed in Orange County motorcycle crash

An Ocala woman who was riding on the back of a motorcycle was killed in a crash in Orange County Thursday night.

The 21-year-old woman was riding with a 24-year-old Casselberry man, who also died in the accident on State Road 417 near State Road 528. Neither has been identified pending notification of next of kin.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. when the motorcycle, traveling at a high rate of speed, slammed into the back of a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by 58-year-old Keith Wilkins, of New York. Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were ejected, with the Ocala woman then being run over by a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 61-year-old Don Nix, of Oviedo, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Both the man and the woman, who were wearing helmets, were pronounced dead at the scene by a medical examiner. Neither Wilkins nor Nix were injured. And It hasn’t determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
