A Silver Springs man found out recently that a Marion County sheriff’s K-9 meant business when he tried to hide to avoid being arrested.
A sheriff’s deputy made contact with 26-year-old David A. Watson on Friday, July 5, because he knew he had outstanding warrants for burglary of a dwelling, three counts of grand theft and dealing in stolen property, a sheriff’s office report states.
But Watson decided to flee on foot and ran into a home. Dep. Matt Bowers and his K-9 partner, OTOW, were then called to the scene. Bowers gave numerous warnings, which Watson ignored. She he released OTOW into the house and he quickly found Bowers hiding in a closet.
Watson was arrested, treated for his injuries and then taken to the Marion County Jail. He was charged with resisting an officer/obstruction by a disguised person, two counts of grand theft, unarmed burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, larceny/grand theft and a probation violation on a charge of dealing in stolen property.
Watson was being held with no bond and is due in court Wednesday, July 17; July 22 and Aug. 6 to answer to the six charges.
