29-year-old Ocala woman arrested after hit-and-run crash

Cortney Jane Meier

An Ocala woman was arrested recently after fleeing the scene of a crash at the intersection of County Road 464 and State Road 35.

Cortney Jane Meier, 29, of 5818 NW 3rd Place, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with non-serious injuries and operating a motor vehicle without a license. She was traveling westbound on CR 464 at around 6 p.m. on Sept. 26 when she ran into a vehicle that was stopping for a red light, according the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report.

Meier kept going after the wreck, and a witness followed her as she turned right onto SR-35 northbound, then right onto Almond Drive Pass and left onto Almond Drive Place, where her vehicle became disabled and came to a stop, the report said.

Meier told a sheriff’s deputy she fled because she doesn’t have a valid driver’s license. She was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released last Sunday on $1,500 bond. Meier is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 29.
