Ocala man accused of pointing handgun at pair during family spat

Greg A. Schied

An Ocala man was arrested recently after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a man and woman during a family argument.

Greg A. Schied, 54, was charged with two counts of aggravated domestic assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and a single count of simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened shortly after midnight.

The male victim told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that he got into an argument with Schied that escalated to the point where Schied grabbed the victim by his beard. At that point, the female victim came out of the house and Schied yelled at her to go back inside, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The male victim said the argument continued inside the residence and Schied pulled out a handgun, put a round in the chamber and pointed it at the male victim’s head. The female victim yelled at Schied, and he turned the gun and pointed it at her, ordering her to stay out of the incident, the report said.

Both victims said Schied went too far and they were in fear for their safety during the incident. Schied admitted to the deputies that there was an argument, but he wouldn’t say anything about pulling out the gun and pointing it at the victims, according to the report.

Schied was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released on $6,000 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on June 2.
