Ocklawaha man back in jail on meth charges

Reilly Kelly McCoy

A 19-year-old Ocklawaha man was arrested for the fifth time in less than six months after deputies found methamphetamine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Reilly Kelly McCoy, of 11760 SE 130th St., was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug equipment and driving with a suspended license, as well as bond violations stemming from his arrest in February for uttering a forged instrument and petit theft of between $100 and $750. He was also once in December 2019 and twice in January, according to jail records.

McCoy was pulled over at around 8 a.m. last Tuesday after Marion County sheriff’s deputies observed him traveling south on SE 115th Avenue with an illegal window tint. He told deputies his license was suspended, and they used a tint reader to measure the front driver’s-side window at 3 percent, according to the sheriff’s office report.

A deputy then observed, in plain view, a clear plastic bag with a crystal substance on the front passenger seat. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine. McCoy said the methamphetamine didn’t belong to him and there have been several different people inside the vehicle recently, the report said.

McCoy was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was being held on $6,500. He is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on July 7.
