Frequent shoplifter jailed after caught swapping pants at Ocala Walmart

Deloris LaShawn Daniels

A frequent shoplifter is back behind bars in the Marion County Jail after she was caught swapping pants and using beauty products at an Ocala Walmart.

An employee at the store, located at 34 Bahia Ave., told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that she followed 46-year-old Deloris LaShawn Daniels around the store and saw her pick up a belt and make her way to the shoe department. She said she put on a new pair of pants and then went to the health and beauty department, where she used multiple items before returning them to the shelves, a sheriff’s office report states.

The employee said Daniels put her original pair of pants in the trash and went to exit the store without paying for the items, valued at $61.01. A criminal history check revealed Daniels had two prior theft convictions.

Daniels was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with larceny/petit theft (third or subsequent offense). She was being held on $2,000 bond and is due in court April 6 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
