An Ocala woman was arrested after she threw a child’s bicycle and large metal pot at another woman’s vehicle during a fight the victim recorded on video with her cell phone.
Tiffany Renee Vinson, 33, of 143 Willow Road, was charged with simple battery and criminal mischief with property damage between $200 and $1,000.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy she went to Vinson’s residence March 11 to speak with her juvenile daughter. She said when she arrived, Vinson met her in the front yard and they started yelling vulgar insults at each other, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said Vinson picked up a child’s “ride-in” car toy and swung it, striking her in the shoulder. The victim said she then tackled Vinson and they fought on the ground for a few minutes, the report said.
The victim said she returned to her vehicle after she let Vinson go, and Vinson then picked up a child’s pedal bicycle and threw it on the hood of the victim’s car, which was in the driveway. This caused some scratches and paint transfer that will cost an estimated $200 to have repaired, according to the report.
The victim said she got into her car and Vinson took a large metal pot from the garage and slammed it twice on her windshield, causing it to break. She said she and Vinson separated until the deputy arrived, the report said.
The victim had placed her cell phone on the dashboard of her car and started recording because she expected Vinson to start a fight. In the video, it is clear the victim kept her hands down at her side and had nothing in her hands prior to Vinson hitting her with the large toy, according to the report.
Vinson told the deputy she hit the victim with the large toy because the victim had a razor blade in her left hand. She also admitted to striking the victim’s windshield with the pot with the intention of breaking it, the report said.
Based on Vinson’s own statements and the video clearly showing the victim had nothing in her hand during the initial fight, the deputy determined Vinson was the primary aggressor. She was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released March 12 on $2,000 bond. No court information was available.
