‘Unable to focus’ Dunnellon woman nabbed on DUI charge after traffic stop for speeding

Yarunda Orduno Sanchez

A Dunnellon woman with bloodshot and watery eyes was jailed recently after being stopped by a Marion County sheriff’s deputy.

Yarunda Orduno Sanchez, 44, was driving a black Chevy SUV when she initially was stopped for a speeding violation. The deputy reported smelling the odor of alcohol while speaking with Sanchez, who initially refused to participate in field sobriety exercises but then changed her mind and agreed to do so, a sheriff’s office report states.

Orduno Sanchez struggled through the field sobriety exercises and the deputy reported that she was “unable to focus on more than one thing at a time.” The report also noted that Orduno Sanchez appeared “intoxicated past the point to allow for safe use of a motor vehicle.”

Orduno Sanchez was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she provided breath samples that showed blood-alcohol content of .126 and .122. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. She was released March 17 at 11 p.m. on $1,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
