New Ocala Cinemas hoping to open June 25

A rebranded theater in east Ocala is hoping to open its doors later this month.

Ocala Cinemas, formerly Ocala Center 6, is hoping to open on Friday, June 25. Located at 2021 E Silver Springs Boulevard, the theater had recently announced via social media that it had plans to open in early June before updating its marquee last week.

Although the theater had originally hoped to open on June 7, that was delayed to June 11 until the company posted on their Facebook page this week about the new date.

“We just got all the approvals and everything needed to open, but the date is now June 25th. Please be patient with us, we are trying to make sure everything is perfect for our opening day,” reads a post on the organization’s Facebook page.

According to the new theater, showtimes for upcoming films and prices will be posted through their Facebook Page in the coming weeks.

The theater joins other theaters across Ocala that opened at various points throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Regal Cinemas closed its doors multiple times before reopening in May.

Marion Theatre in downtown Ocala has been playing a slate of old movies and restarted their popular kids summer film series this month.

Epic Theaters, which opened the doors on its Ocala location right before the pandemic began in March 2020, has been playing new films as Hollywood releases them.
