A popular Downtown Ocala cafe is hoping to open their new location in September.
Symmetry Coffee and Crepes, which currently operates out of 108 N Magnolia Ave, Suite 102, will partner with Soleil Confections to bring a new cafe to the location formerly occupied by Sovereign’s and Scoundrels. A sign on the front of the building projects the opening in September of this year.
The new cafe will be located at 56 SE 1st Ave Suite, between The Mustard Seed antique shop and the Church of Scientology.
Symmetry Cafe is owned and operated by Michael Mills, who will partner with the owners of Soleil Confections, Melanie and Chris Patrick, in order to offer a cafe with baked goods, sweet treats, and even beer and wine. Soleil Confections currently sells a variety of macaroons and other desserts out of the weekly farmer’s market at the Ocala Downtown Market. Mills currently operates Buzz and Grind out of the Ocala Downtown Market.
The group received approval earlier this year for a $25,000 grant to help with the $100,000 to $150,000 estimated price tag for renovations.
According to city records, the location will need to be updated from a retail shop to a food service business and hopes to create 8 to 10 jobs. The business hopes to operate between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.
