Nearly $33,000 in donations to benefit multiple Marion County public schools, departments

Nearly $33,000 worth of donations were made to public schools and departments in Marion County during the first week of February.

These donations will be presented to the Marion County School Board for acceptance and approval during its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 22.

With approval from the school board members, the various donations totaling $32,970 will benefit the following schools and departments:

  • $2,500 to Dr. NH Jones Elementary School (1900 SW 5th Street in Ocala) to be used for school-wide student and staff initiatives.
  • $25,000 to Hillcrest Public School (3143 SE 17th Street in Ocala) to be used at the principal’s discretion.
  • $1,970 to North Marion High School (151 W Highway 329 in Citra) to supplement the HOSA (Future Health Professional / NMHSMSCA) Program.
  • $2,500 to Osceola Middle School (526 SE Tuscawilla Avenue in Ocala) to be used for school-wide student and staff initiatives.
  • $1,000 to Silver River Museum and Environmental Education Center (1445 NE 58th Avenue in Ocala) to help support all aspects of its educational programs for 4th and 5th grade students at the museum (maintenance on the museum tour boat, keeping exhibits up to date, purchasing classroom supplies, etc.).

The Marion County School Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the School Board Meeting Room located at 512 SE 3rd Street in Ocala.
