MCPS seeking public feedback on new math textbooks

Marion County Public Schools is seeking feedback from the public on new mathematics textbooks for all grade levels that will be used in classrooms beginning next school year.

Review committees, which included teachers, parents, and community members, recently considered various materials and provided recommendations to superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett. The window for public input opened after Gullett gave a presentation to school board members on Thursday, February 17.

Anyone interested in reviewing the textbooks and related materials can visit the MCPS Instructional Materials webpage. Public comments can then be presented in person at the Marion County School Board meeting on Tuesday, March 22 at 5:30 p.m.

When the school board members meet on Tuesday, April 12, they will vote on the recommended materials. Following that vote, the public will have a 30-day window to object.

The Marion County School Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the School Board Meeting Room located at 512 SE 3rd Street in Ocala.
