The Ocala Police Department is looking for members of the community who are interested in becoming a 911 dispatcher.
As a 911 dispatcher, qualified candidates will be placed in the front lines to assist Marion County residents while ensuring that everyone remains calm and informed. According to the job description, duties include answering all incoming emergency and non-emergency phone calls, including the county’s enhanced 911 system, and providing support for dispatch peers.
The starting pay for this full-time position is nearly $18 an hour, and continued training could lead to earnings of up to $26 an hour. A full benefits package is also offered which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plans, and paid time off.
On its Facebook webpage, the Ocala Police Department stated, “Although this position may not be for everyone, if you use the tools and training that we provide, you will become part of our team of true first responders.”
