Marion Theatre to show free holiday movie this weekend

The Marion Theatre will host a free showing of the holiday film Elf on Sunday, December 11, and those who reserve a ticket are encouraged to bring a canned or non-perishable food item to benefit local senior citizens.

At 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, the Marion Theatre will treat those in attendance to a free showing of the 2003 film Elf starring Will Ferrell. The movie tells the story of an oversized elf named Buddy who travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father, Walter, who is unaware that Buddy exists.

Elf is rated PG for some mild rude humor and language.

The Marion Theatre asks that attendees bring a canned or non-perishable food item to donate. All donations will benefit Marion Senior Services, which is a nonprofit organization that assists the disabled and disadvantaged elderly residents of Marion County to help them maintain independent living status.

Each item donated by an attendee, up to a maximum of three items per person, will enter them into a raffle drawing for a $250 Visa gift card. At the end of the movie, the gift card will be awarded to the winner.

In a social media post, the Marion Theatre thanked its sponsor, CERV LAW, PLLC, for helping to provide this free movie event for families in Ocala/Marion County.

To reserve a free ticket, visit the Marion Threatre event webpage and select this Sunday’s 2 p.m. showtime for Elf.

The Marion Theatre is located at 50 S Magnolia Avenue in Ocala.
