Ocala man ejected, killed in head-on collision

A 62-year-old man from Ocala was killed on Friday evening after his sedan crashed into an SUV in Marion County.

At approximately 7:45 p.m., the sedan was traveling southbound on N U.S. Highway 441, just south of the NW 95th Street intersection. Moments before the accident, the SUV was heading northbound on N U.S. Highway 441, near the same intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that for unknown reasons, the sedan veered across the grass median and into the oncoming northbound lanes of N U.S. Highway 441. The sedan proceeded to travel directly into the path of the SUV, which resulted in a head-on collision.

According to the FHP report, the sedan’s driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and he was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The SUV’s four occupants – a 45-year-old man (driver), 43-year-old woman, 14-year-old girl, and 11-year-old girl, all from Wesley Chapel – sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The names of the individuals involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
