Marion school district hosting career fair to fill hundreds of positions

Marion County Public Schools will host a career fair later this month in an effort to fill hundreds of open positions for the new school year.

The second annual Hometown Hiring Career Fair will take place on Wednesday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Fort King Middle School (545 NE 17th Avenue in Ocala).
  • Lake Weir Middle School (10220 SE Sunset Harbor Road in Summerfield).
  • Marion Oaks Elementary School (280 Marion Oaks Trail in Ocala).

According to MCPS, over 25 schools and departments plan to hire teachers, support staff, Marion Afterschool Program workers, and new team members for several departments including custodial, food service, and transportation.

During the Hometown Hiring Career Fair, school administrators, district leaders, and others will conduct interviews at all three locations. Last year, over 300 people attended the school district’s inaugural career fair, and 112 of them were hired on the spot.
