The Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host an event later this month at the Discovery Center to celebrate the city’s official community ambassador, Rex the Squirrel.
The second annual Rex’s Birthday Bash will take place on Thursday, July 20, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Discovery Center located at 701 NE Sanchez Avenue in Ocala.
This family-friendly event will feature free admission to the Discovery Center during party hours and free cupcakes. Rex will also make appearances throughout the event to meet attendees and pose for photos.
The Discovery Center is currently showcasing its “Gross Out Science” exhibit, which will remain on display through Saturday, August 26. The exhibit explores the world of creepy crawlies, gross smells, and stinky science.
“July is National Parks and Recreation Month, and we can’t think of a better way to highlight this month-long celebration than a party featuring our favorite team member, Rex the Squirrel,” stated Preston Pooser, Ocala Recreation and Parks Director. “Come celebrate with us at Rex’s second annual birthday bash.”
